Piano Lessons

Beginning piano students start as a small class that progresses to partner lessons or private study. Taught by Kay Barlow, the approach to learning how to play the piano is traditional / classical with emphasis placed on accuracy of reading music notation, piano playing technique, interpretation, repertoire and musicality.

Studying piano is considered a 30 week commitment.  Lessons are organized into 3 semesters of 10 weeks each, September through May. Each semester concludes with a public recital.  A short summer semester during the month of July is optional.

Summer 2017 Piano Class

Piano class teaches children how to find their way around the piano and introduces music reading through fun group activities. Young piano players create their own music while they build self-confidence, increase concentration and expand their understanding of music. Children who wish to continue studying piano are well-prepared for private lessons by the end of this class that meets 6 to 8 times within a 4 week period.
